Research Activities
The research of the laboratory of Immunology mainly focuses on the study of immune response to infections. In detail the main topics are:
- study of dendritic cell and macrophage biology and effect of hypoxic microenvironment on cell differentiation and proangiogenic activity;
- role of dendritic cells on pathogen recognition, immune response and antimicrobial mechanisms;
- study of the pathogenic mechanisms of Bartonella henselae
The team also studies the antimicrobial activity of new compounds, in particular:
- molecules with rnase activity;
- new antimicrobial delivery systems to counteract multidrug resistant bacterial infections
Moreover the laboratory team collaborates with the Skin Bank of the AUO Città della Salute e della Scienza di Torino (directed by Dott.ssa Castagnoli) to study pathological inflammatory conditions and in particular the processes involved in the wound healing.
The members of the laboratory are co-inventors of the Italian patent n. 102020000022984 (University of Turin) "COMPOSITION INCLUDING ALBUMIN NANOPARTICLES ENCAPSULATING AN ANTIBIOTIC"
