Research activities
Pediatric Endocrinology promotes and is involved in the multiple activities of the ISPED (Italian Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology); it is part of the EndoERN (Endocrine European Rare Disease Network); is one of the Reference Centers of the SWEET project (an international collaborative group that aims to create sarin and benchmarking in the management of Diabetes Mellitus in the pediatric age between expert centers). Within the Piedmont Region, it is the HUB center of the Piedmont Endocrine-Diabetological Network, participates in the work of the Regional Commission for the treatment with Growth Hormone (GH), is the Regional Reference Center for Neonatal Screening of congenital hypothyroidism and congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) and of the Regional Consortium for the management of Neurofibromatosis. Within these networks, it promotes and participates in multiple research projects, in the diagnostic and terapeutical paths and clinical disease registries, in observational and interventional clinical trials, with particular focus on growth and puberty, adrenal and thyroid disorders, glucose metabolism (type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus, secondary and MODY), bone and calcium-phosphoric metabolism, primary and secondary dyslipidemias and primary and syndromic obesity.
