Research Activities
Forensic Genetics Section
Application of molecular biology techniques to judicial issues (personal identification and ascertainment of consanguinity relationships), with particular reference to: use of haploid DNA markers (chromosome Y, X, mtDNA); extraction of human DNA from skeletal remains and ancestry information markers for the identification of victims of migration accidents; determination of the nature of traces by analysis of mRNA expression; development of protocols for genetic and forensic analysis in sexual violence victims.

Electronic Microscopy Section
Scanning electronic microscopy in the forensic and criminalistics fields (in particular forensic traumatology and search for shot marks); study of ancient human finds. Study of primers and bullets of different brands and years of production, with particular regard to new concept ammunitions.
