Research Activities
The laboratory's research activity concerns the application of odontology and forensic anthropology methods for the personal attribution of skeletal remains and the definition of the generic biological profile of human remains. The verification of the chronological age through dental methods and the application of new technologies as an aid in instrumental surveys, in the interpretation and archiving of data for identification purposes are an integral part of the analyses and technical-forensic investigations.
The laboratory also provides humanitarian forensic odontology services for the promotion and protection of human rights, especially for unaccompanied foreign minors, unidentified corpses, combating human trafficking, in collaboration with other universities or international associations.
The laboratory also participates in the analysis of dental damage as part of risk management in collaboration with the University Legal Medicine Unit of the City of Health and Science of Turin.
