Research Activities
Neuromuscular diseases: diagnosis, innovative approaches and clinical trials for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Steinert myotonic dystrophy and type 2 glycogenosis. Acquired brain injuries (post-traumatic or post-surgical): evaluation and neuropsychological treatment in the early subacute phase. Eating disorders in childhood and adolescence: clinical and psychodiagnostics assessments, and development of individualized multimodal treatment interventions. Adolescent psychopathology: identification of clinical and psychopathological developmental trajectories underlying psychiatric disorders. Prevention of suicidal behaviors in adolescence: identification of risk and protective factors for suicidal ideation and behaviors in adolescents. Collaboration with Master of Journalism of UNITO with the aim of improving media reporting of suicide and preventing contagion phenomena among youth. Autism: prompt identification of autism spectrum disorder in the context of neurodevelopmental disorders and approaches to early treatment. Focus is on screening and early diagnosis targeting children at risk for deficits in communication and/or family history of autism. Child maltreatment: neuropsychiatric implications of different types of child maltreatment in childhood and adolescence. Activities are part of the European project COST CA-19106 aimed at harmonizing the operational definition of abuse and neglect across Europe to facilitate epidemiological and clinical research.
